Treatments – sub3 sports massage

SPORTS & REMEDIAL MASSAGE

Performing our favourite sports activities may often be affected by various aches, pains or injuries. These problems may put us out for a period of time and affect our performance level. However, Sports & Remedial Massage is not only applied to sports-related injuries. It can also address pain and discomfort stemming from imbalance, repetitive strain and bad posture.

The aim of Sports & Remedial Massage is to work on soft tissue structures, such as muscles, tendons and fascia that are out of balance to help the body achieve equilibrium. It can speed up healing processes, release tension, improve flexibility and elasticity and allow better and more efficient functioning of the body. Sports & Remedial Massage is not simply about loosening and relaxing; it may often involve proprioceptive work to stimulate and strengthen the weak and inactive muscles.

Sports & Remedial Massage has been found effective in the treatment of various injuries and ailments, including:

  • plantar fasciitis
  • achilles tendonitis/tendinosis
  • calf tension
  • medial/lateral tibial stress syndrome (shin splints)
  • knee pain
  • ITB syndrome
  • lower back pain
  • sciatica
  • tennis/golfer’s elbow
  • rotator cuff muscles injuries (shoulder injuries)
  • headaches & migraines
  • stress-related tension

Apart from working on injuries, Sport & Remedial Massage can be applied to enhance sport performance and aid recovery following sport activities.

Sports & Remedial Massage uses a variety of massage techniques, such as Deep Tissue, Trigger Point Therapy, Muscle Energy Techniques and Soft Tissue Release. The therapist tailors the treatment, choosing the application of different techniques which specifically address the needs identified by the client and during the initial assessment. On some occasions the client may be asked to actively participate with the application of certain techniques.

Each treatment ends with personalised home care advice and the client is given a set of exercises in order to prolong the effects of treatment and help maintain muscle balance.

HOLISTIC MASSAGE

Holistic massage is ideal for anyone who wishes to switch off from the surrounding noise of everyday life and let their body and mind relax.

The treatment involves delicate/relaxing techniques and is tailored to the client’s physical and emotional needs and general wellbeing. It does not require the client’s active involvement, making it the perfect relaxation experience. Holistic Massage focuses on releasing tension, gently working on the body as a whole, as opposed to treating targeted areas of injury or pain, as with Sports and Remedial Massage.

Holistic Massage is perfect for:

  • Stress
  • Anxiety
  • Sleep problems
  • Recovering from emotional challenges
  • Restoration of balance
  • Promoting relaxation
